Amanda Cotarelo

Geriatric Nurse Practitioner

About Amanda

Amanda joined Pathway Geriatrics in 2025 as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, bringing more than nine years of nursing experience and a deep commitment to improving the lives of older adults. Her career began in the intensive care unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she cared for critically ill patients in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. These experiences shaped her ability to stay calm and compassionate while managing complex medical situations. Over time, Amanda was drawn to the continuity and meaningful relationships found in geriatric medicine. She transitioned to post-acute and skilled nursing care, specializing in supporting older adults with chronic illness and complex health needs. Today, she is honored to bring her expertise to the home-based model of care at Pathway Geriatrics.

Treatment Philosophy

Amanda believes excellent care for older adults begins with listening and building trust. She sees each patient as a whole person with a unique history, voice, and values. Her approach centers on supporting autonomy, preserving dignity, and promoting quality of life at every stage. She is especially passionate about palliative care and feels privileged to support patients and families through serious illness and end-of-life transitions. Amanda values clear, compassionate communication and works closely with interdisciplinary teams to create care plans that reflect what matters most to her patients. She is also a strong advocate for aging in place, helping older adults remain in the comfort of home whenever possible.
